Customer Experience Overview: On the “Membership Plans” or subscription page (often at

/subscribe), customers are guided through configuring their recurring service

Property Details & ZIP Validation: At the top of the form, the customer enters their ZIP

code and basic home info (square footage category, number of bedrooms, number of

bathrooms). The ZIP code is used to validate service availability and apply any travel fee

if needed – the plans remain greyed out or disabled until a valid ZIP is entered. When a

valid ZIP is input, the form will display a status (e.g. “✓ In Service Area” or “⚠ May

require extra fee”depending on your configuration). This ensures the customer is within

an area you serve before they proceed. The square footage and room counts entered

here will form the basis of the price calculation.

Choose Service Frequency: The customer selects how often they want the service –

typically Weekly, Bi-Weekly (every two weeks), or Monthly. These options might be

presented as a toggle or set of buttons (often with the middle option highlighted).

Choosing a frequency will immediately update the displayed prices for each plan tier,

since frequency affects the rate (for example, weekly service has a discount per visit,

while monthly has a slight surcharge). The UI usually reflects this by showing something

like “per cleaning” price and maybe an equivalent monthly total. Frequency selection is a

required step before finalizing a plan.

View Plan Options and Pricing: The subscription tool displays the plan tiers (commonly

three: Essentials, Standard, Premium) in separate cards for easy comparison. Each plan

card lists what’s included at that service level (often via a brief feature list or a link to

“See details”). The pricing for each plan is dynamically calculated based on the home

info and frequency selected. Customers will see the price per service (e.g. “$130 per

cleaning”) on each card, and sometimes an estimated monthly cost as well (e.g. “approx

$260/mo” for bi-weekly) for context. The card will also indicate the travel fee status

(usually showing “Travel: Included” if the ZIP entered had no fee, or showing the fee

amount if one applies). Additionally, there’s an entry for the “First Visit Deep Clean” fee –

because all recurring plans typically start with a longer deep-clean, the tool will display

the one-time fee for that first visit. If you have the new customer promo active, this

first-visit fee will show as a discounted amount (like “$49”) with a note about savings (for

example, “Save $100 on your first deep clean” might be shown next to it).

New Member Promotion (Optional): If enabled on your site, new subscribers get a

promotional rate on their initial deep cleaning. The form will show a toggle or message

about a New Member Offer. Typically, it’s pre-checked to indicate the promo is applied by

default (since it’s meant to entice signups). With the promo on, the first visit’s deep-clean

fee is reduced to a flat $49 (or whatever you set), instead of the normal full price (which

might be around $150–$200 depending on home size). If the customer opts out of the

promo (which is rare, but they could un-check it if they don’t want the commitment), the

first visit fee would remain at the standard rate. The promo toggle is accompanied by a

note that there’s a minimum commitment of 3 visits to prevent people from canceling

right after the discounted first clean. In fact, if the promo is active, when the customer

clicks to select a plan, a modal will pop up with Terms & Conditions of the promotion,

asking them to agree (e.g. acknowledging the 3-cleaning minimum). They must accept

before proceeding, ensuring they understand the offer’s conditions.

Premium Plan Bonus Selection: If the customer is looking at the Premium tier, the form

will include an extra feature – the “Deep-Clean Bonus” selector. Premium plans often

come with one bonus task included each visit (like an oven clean, fridge clean, or

baseboards rotation). The tool presents the bonus options (commonly three choices) and

lets the customer choose which task they’d like as their recurring bonus. For example,

they can select “Inside Oven Cleaning” as their bonus task. If they choose Premium, this

selected bonus will be performed on each visit at no extra charge. There is also a toggle

for Rotating vs. Fixed bonus. In “Rotate” mode, the crew will cycle through the different

bonus tasks on each subsequent visit (one time oven, next time fridge, etc.), whereas

“Fixed” means the same bonus task is done every time (e.g. always oven). The form

default is often “Rotate Tasks” (so customers get a different deep-clean each time), but

they can switch to a fixed favorite if desired. The selection and toggle only apply to the

Premium plan – the software will ignore these fields for Essentials or Standard plans

(and it explicitly sets them to “N/A” for non-premium during submission). This bonus

choice is a selling point for the Premium tier and helps justify its higher cost.

Plan Detail Modals: Customers can click something like “What’s included?” on each plan

to see a detailed list of services. The subscription tool includes a hidden checklist of

tasks for each tier (for example, Premium might include inside cabinet cleaning, etc.,

whereas Essentials is more basic). Clicking to view details triggers a modal overlay

showing a bullet list of everything covered in that plan tier. This helps customers make

an informed choice. It’s purely informational – no extra input needed – and the customer

can close the modal to continue.

Select a Plan: Once the customer has adjusted all settings (home info, frequency,

promo, etc.) and is satisfied with the displayed prices, they click the “Select [Plan Name]”

button on their preferred tier (e.g. “Select Premium”). At this point, the form logic will first

ensure a valid ZIP was entered (if not, it will shake the ZIP field and not proceed). If the

New Member Offer is active, clicking a plan triggers the Promo Terms confirmation as

mentioned – the user must agree to continue. After passing these checks, the process

moves to final submission.

Pricing Logic and Calculation: The recurring subscription price that the customer sees is

calculated using a comprehensive formula that takes into account all their inputs. In simple

terms, the algorithm works like this

1. Base Price by Home Size: Each size category (Studio, Small, Medium, Large, Estate,

etc.) corresponds to a base dollar amount – this serves as the starting point. For

example, a Medium home might have a base price of $159, Large $190, etc., whereas a

tiny studio might be $85 (these are internal presets). The dropdown selection for square

footage sets this base. The plugin treats the “Medium” size base as an anchor.

2. Adjust for Bedrooms and Bathrooms: The formula then adds costs for the number of

bedrooms and bathrooms. Bathrooms generally add a significant cost – there is an

internal rate table for bathrooms (increasing with each additional bathroom). Bedrooms

cost differently depending on the plan tier: Essentials plan doesn’t charge extra per

bedroom (0$ each) because it’s a lighter service; Standard plan assumes one master

bedroom cleaning (adds a flat fee, e.g. $15 total regardless of count); Premium plan

includes all bedrooms, adding a fee for each one. These rules are baked in – the user

doesn’t choose a “bedroom cleaning” add-on; it’s automatically factored in based on the

number they entered. So, a Premium customer with 4 bedrooms will pay more than one

with 2 bedrooms, whereas Essentials customers pay the same whether they have 1 or 3

bedrooms (since Essentials skips bedrooms beyond basic areas). All of that is

transparently rolled into the price they see.

3. Travel Fee by ZIP: If the provided ZIP code carries a travel surcharge (as configured in

the ZIP Fees table in admin settings), that fee is added as well. In local ZIPs it might be

$0 (included), but for outlying areas, say $60 or $90 could be added to each visit price.

The plan cards clearly label if a travel fee is included or show the fee amount so the

customer knows (e.g. “Travel: $60”).

4. Tier Multiplier: Each plan tier then applies a multiplier to reflect its level of service.

Essentials is discounted (e.g. ~0.85x the standard rate) since it’s a lighter service;

Premium is a premium service (e.g. ~1.3x the standard rate). Standard is the baseline

(1.0). These multipliers adjust the price up or down. The customer doesn’t see the

multiplier, they just see the final price difference – e.g. Premium might be roughly 30%

higher than Standard for the same home, aligning with more time spent and the bonus

task included.

5. Frequency Discount/Surcharge: Similarly, the frequency of service adjusts the per-visit

price. A customer committing to weekly service usually gets a small discount (for

example 10% off, multiplier ~0.90) since they are very frequent, whereas monthly

service has a slight surcharge (e.g. 10% increase, multiplier ~1.10) because the home

tends to get dirtier between visits. Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) is treated as the standard

(multiplier 1.0). The tool applies these frequency multipliers after the base and tier

adjustments. So, if two customers both choose Premium for the same home but one is

weekly and one is monthly, the weekly customer will actually see a lower price per

cleaning than the monthly – rewarding more frequent business.

6. First Visit Deep Clean Fee: In addition to the recurring price, the tool calculates the

one-time initial deep cleaning fee. This isn’t simply added on top of the displayed prices

but shown separately as “First Visit Fee.” Internally, the logic is: if the home is below a

certain size/complexity threshold, use a standard deep clean fee (e.g. $150); if it’s a

larger home, use a higher fee (e.g. $200). The threshold might be around a “standard

base” cost of $300 (the tool checks if the base quote exceeds a certain amount to decide

a higher deep clean fee). With the New Member Promo active, however, this first visit fee

is slashed to $49 for the customer. The tool shows them how much they’re saving (it

computes the difference between the normal fee and $49 and labels it as “Save $X”). It’s

important to note: while the customer sees this discount, the plugin does not charge the

full deep clean fee upfront – it only charges $49 (effectively waiving the rest as a

promotional credit). The understanding is the company recoups that cost over the

required minimum visits or will charge the difference if the customer cancels prematurely

(currently this is handled manually, outside the plugin’s automation).

7. Final Recurring Price: After accounting for size, rooms, travel, tier, and frequency, the

plugin arrives at the final per-cleaning price for the subscription. This value is rounded

and set as the amount that will be charged on each recurring order. The plugin updates

the plan cards with this price in real time as inputs change. Technically, this price is also

stored in a hidden field ready for submission. For example, it might compute something

like $130 per cleaning for a given scenario – that’s what will be charged each time the

service is rendered.

All these calculations happen instantly in the browser to show the customer, and then they are

re-calculated on the server upon submission (to ensure nothing was tampered with). The

server-side uses the exact same formula to recompute the price and uses that as the source of

truth (if by some chance the numbers differed, the server’s calculation prevails). This dual

calculation ensures accuracy and security.

Subscription Form Submission Flow: Once the customer clicks “Select [Plan]” and (if applicable)

accepts the promo terms, the Subscription Tool quietly gathers all the input values into a hidden

HTML form and submits it to your WordPress site. Unlike the quote tool which uses AJAX, the

subscription form does a standard form POST (HTTP POST) to the site (to the homepage or a

includes fields such as: zipcode, sqft, bedrooms, bathrooms, frequency

(weekly/biweekly/monthly), tier(essentials/standard/premium), promo_active (whether the promo

toggle was on), and if premium, the selected_bonus and bonus_rotation values. It also carries a

special flag bqm_action = add_subscription which the plugin looks for on init. The plugin’s

submission handler (bqm_handle_subscription_form) runs very early in the page load to

process this data.

On the server side, the plugin validates the submission (ensuring WooCommerce is loaded and

it’s not an admin request). It then sanitizes and reads all those fields into variables. If for some

reason a non-premium plan was submitted with bonus values (which could only happen via

manual tinkering), the plugin will override those to “N/A” for consistency. Next, the plugin

recalculates the price for the subscription using the same logic described earlier (size, bath,

bed, etc.) – this guarantees the final price is correct and prevents any cheating or JS errors from

affecting billing. It determines which WooCommerce product corresponds to the chosen

frequency (e.g. it might select the hidden “Bi-Weekly Service” product if frequency = biweekly).

Then it adds that product to the cart, just like the AJAX did for quotes, attaching all relevant

metadata: it tags the cart item as coming from the subscription tool (bqm_source =

"subscription_tool"), and adds custom meta fields for the plan tier, frequency, ZIP, bedrooms,

bathrooms, travel fee, standard base (complexity value), whether promo was active, and if

premium, the bonus task and mode. Essentially, everything about the subscription is stored with

the cart item. The plugin then immediately redirects the user to the WooCommerce Checkout

page (it obtains the WooCommerce checkout URL and sends the customer there). The user will

see their chosen plan as an item in the cart, with a price equal to the per-visit price just

calculated.

At checkout, the plugin again uses a price override to ensure the hidden product’s price is set to

the calculated recurring price. It also prettifies the display of the item: for subscription items, the

checkout page will list out the plan name (capitalized), the frequency, the ZIP code, and travel

fee (“Included” or “$X”), and indicate if the New Member Offer was applied. For Premium

sign-ups, it will also show the chosen Bonus Task (e.g. Oven) and Bonus Mode (Rotate or

Fixed) as line-item details. This way, the customer has a final confirmation of what they are

signing up for.

After the customer places the order (completing payment for the first service and committing the

subscription), the plugin triggers the unified scheduling flow. On the thank-you page, it detects

that the order contains a BQM Plan meta (which indicates a subscription order). It then

calculates whether this order is considered a “short” or “long” job by using the stored “Standard

Base (Complexity)” value for that order (the plugin calculated and saved a standardized

complexity number based on the home’s base price + one standard bedroom, etc.). If that

complexity number is above a certain threshold, the system flags it as a Long Job (meaning the

home is large or very involved), otherwise it’s a Short Job. Using that and the plan tier, the

plugin picks the appropriate calendar booking link. In your settings, you will have configured

separate calendar URLs for each combination of tier and job length – for example, you might

have a Google Appointment Schedule for “Premium – Large Homes” and another for “Premium

– Standard Homes,” as well as ones for Standard and Essentials tiers. The plugin uses a helper

function to get the right URL: Premium customers get sent to the Premium calendar (short or

long as determined), Essentials to the Essentials calendar, etc.. Just like with one-time quotes, it

shows a “Payment received / now schedule” overlay on the thank-you page and then

automatically redirects the client to the correct calendar page after a few seconds. The client

can then pick their recurring appointment slot. After scheduling, they’re all set – they have

officially subscribed and booked their first service slot.

Admin Notes on Subscription Orders: In WooCommerce’s Orders section, a new subscription

sign-up will appear as an order with the hidden subscription product. The plugin attaches a rich

set of Order Item Meta for your reference: it tags the line item with BQM Plan (tier), Plan (Pretty

Name), Frequency, Zip Code, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Travel Fee, Standard Base (Complexity),

New Member Offer (yes/no), and if Premium, the Bonus Task and Bonus Mode. You can view

these by expanding the order line item. The “Standard Base” number is primarily for the plugin’s

internal use (it’s how it decided short vs long job), but it’s there in case you need to see how the

job was classified. The presence of BQM Plan meta is what triggers the scheduling redirect, as

described. Additionally, because this is a true subscription, the WP Swings Subscriptions plugin

will handle generating renewal orders moving forward. The recurring price that was set by BQM

becomes the subscription’s billing amount. Each renewal (weekly/biweekly/monthly) will create a

new order for that amount until the subscription is canceled.

Common Questions & Issues for Subscription Tool: One common question is “What if the

customer’s details change or they want to upgrade plans?” Currently, changing plan tier or

home details after signup isn’t automated – you or the customer would need to cancel the

current subscription and start a new one (or manually adjust it in the admin, e.g. using WP

Swings’ subscription management features). Make sure the customer understands the

commitment if the promo is used: if they cancel extremely early, the discounted deep clean

means the first service was done at a loss – many businesses handle this by invoicing the

difference or simply require a minimum term. The plugin itself does notautomatically charge any

penalty; it only records whether the promo was used. So it’s on the admin to enforce the “3-visit

minimum” policy externally (e.g. by not allowing immediate cancellation or by following up if they

cancel via My Account).

Another tip: ensure all your Calendar Booking URLs are set in the plugin settings. If a URL is

missing for a particular tier/length scenario, the plugin will not redirect the customer (it will just

leave them on the thank-you page as a normal WooCommerce flow). If you only use one

calendar for all bookings, you can paste that same URL in all the fields so that no matter what,

they go there. It’s important to test the sign-up flow at least once for each plan tier (and a large

vs small home) to confirm the routing goes to the correct scheduling page. If you notice a

customer wasn’t redirected, you should reach out and send them the scheduling link manually

to be safe.

Finally, keep an eye on the WP Swings Subscriptions side of things. The BQM plugin doesn’t

replace the subscription plugin’s functionality – for example, recurring billing, free trial settings,

and cancellation rules are managed by WP Swings. In your WooCommerce admin, under WP

Swings → Subscriptions, you can see the active subscriptions, their status, next payment dates,

etc. (the WP Swings documentation provides guidance on managing those aspects). BQM’s role

is to handle the quoting, pricing, and initial metadata/scheduling; WP Swings handles the

ongoing subscription payments. Together, they provide a seamless experience where a

customer can sign up for a plan on the front end and the system will auto-bill and allow

cancellation per your settings.
